In Barcelona, it’s impossible to feel alone. It’s a hub of young, female, solo travelers like me (well at least all my roommates were), and everyone was warm and that friendly vibe was so homey. It is energetic and wistful at the same time. It’s impossible not to have a great time in this city! I actually had a hard time saying goodbye to it!

Flights

Booked multiple destination flights via Skyscanner which led me to Kiwi.com for the cheapest fares. Flew from Marrakech to Casablanca in Morocco and from Casablanca to Barcelona both via Royal Air Maroc. Seats are good for short people! 😊

Transportation

Pre-booked airport roundtrip transfers via Aerobus (EUR10.20)

Pre-booked a 2 day travel card via Barcelona Smart Moving (EUR13). However I didn’t use it much cos I got the free walking tours!

Accommodation

Booked a bed in a 6-bed female room at St. Christopher’s Inn Barcelona through Agoda. Very good location (just a 5 minute walk from Placa Catalunya), clean enough, cool staff, and good on the pocket! Just remember to bring a big padlock for your locker although they have it there for EUR6.

Walking Tours

Since I stayed at a youth hostel, I was offered to join the free walking tour upon check-in. A guide picked us up at 9AM and we met in a plaza with the others. It was a tour around the Gothic Quarter and our memorable, excited, so-not-boring guide Naomi of Sandeman’s made sure we had a good learning time! It lasted for around 2.5 hours but didn’t feel like it.

Emma who I met in the hostel and I booked the Modernism Tour (EUR14) afterwards which featured Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia and the houses he was commissioned in the afternoon. Certainly enjoyed the tour with our beautiful guide Filipa!

Free Day

I spent my second day with Ana who’s a local photographer. We took photos together around the Gothic Quarter and hung out at Barceloneta Beach. You can see our photos here!

I spent the afternoon at Park Guell where the upper deck was currently under renovation.

Shopping

Bershka, Stradivarius, Parfois – the Spanish brands that I love are all here of course! Same prices when you convert to Philippine Peso but c’mon, it’s still from Spain! 😋

Food!

You MUST NOT MISS the mascarpone croissant at Pasteleria Hofmann! It's the best ever! (And it's weird cos I found the best croissant not in Paris 😆)

This city has rivaled with Amsterdam in my heart. Can’t wait to go back! And as I always say, thank you Barcelona for your warmth!
